If that doesn't work, I would change my wireless card. I would recommend downloading inSSIDer 3 and making sure you are not sharing a channel with your neighbor, this may cause interference in you signal and reduce your speeds. If so, that wireless card should get speed up to 867 Mbps ().Įven thought your router is bad ass, with speed up to 1.75Gbps, your wifi card cant provide that kind of speed.īut since your problem is that you are still receiving ~200 Mbps there may still be something wrong. With wired lan i get gigabit speeds without any issue, its just that i want to see higher transfer speeds using the 802.11ac network.įirst, If you bought the laptop Alienware 17 then it should have came with Broadcom 4352 802.11 ac 2x2 and Bluetooth 4.0. so there seems to be something wrong in the laptop. Please let me know whats wrong, and why does windows show connectiion type as 802.11n instead of 802.11ac, even though im using 5ghz connection, and definitely my router supports 802.11ac speeds. The distance between the laptop and the router is not even more than 1.5 meters. when transfering data it changes the speed dynamically with these values such as 176 Mbps, 234 Mbps. I dont know why its showing like that, even though i have a 802.11AC router, and i should be getting way higher speeds.Īlso i checked the link speed that the task manager is showing, when idle it shows about 176Mbps Link speed. My OS is Win8 Professional, and the network type shown in the taskmanager is shown as 802.11n. My Router is ASUS RT-AC66U which supports 802.11AC upto 1750mbit speeds.īut when i try connecting to the router at 5GHZ, i should get higher network data transfer speed, but i only get about max 10-15MByte/s speed (~80-150 mbit) when i copy data from my alenware to another pcs that are also connected using gigabit lan. I have alienware 17 purchased, and it came with Broadcom 802.11ac Network adapter which supports the 802.11ac.
